Ditch Resolutions. Make SMART Goals.

Resolutions are seldom attained because they are too lofty and vague. Instead of resolving to do something, make a plan with SMART goals:

Specific-Specifics help us to focus our efforts and clearly define what we want to accomplish. "I want to lose 25 pounds” is more specific than “I want to lose weight”. Measurable-Your goals must be measurable. In other words there is usually a number involved - dollars, days, times per week, weight. When you create a goal that is measurable, it's easy to determine when you're getting closer or if you've reached your goal. For example, I want to lose 5 pounds a month. Attainable-Is your goal something you can complete on your own or are you dependent on someone else to attain it? What would prevent you from attaining your goal? Relevant-Is your goal in-line with your values or of importance to you? If not, then rethink your goal. Time Specific-Anybody who starts a goal with "someday I want to..." is not likely to …
